I have been a studio potter for the past 7 years living and working from my farmhouse in Thurlstone.
Originally from the South of England I moved up to the Pennines in the late 1980’s.
I have always been involved in art trying different mediums but when I started ceramics at Barnsley Art College I absolutely loved throwing clay on the wheel and since then I have become completely absorbed and gone on to develop my craft more seriously.
I have a small studio where I am able to throw and fire my work, which is primarily wheel thrown pieces in stoneware and porcelain. I am interested in both functional kitchen and tableware ware and I also throw one off pieces where I endeavour to stretch my creativity. I attempt to create pieces with a simple aura about them and fire my work mainly in an electric kiln.
I have exhibited and sold my pottery at the Cooper Gallery (Barnsley), at Holmfirth Artweek, Art at the Altar (Penistone), The Gallery in Coconut Grove, Miami (where I have family), and several independent shops locally and in the South of England.
I have been a member of Hens Teeth for four years and have helped in the organization and running of staging Art at the Altar, every year. It has been a great forum for me to exhibit and sell my pieces and have had many commissions from the event.
